As women, we’re nurturers by nature. And we’re happy to do our part.
Our partners’ needs, our children’s needs, our parents’ needs, our friends’ needs… all come before ours.
Which means that more often that not, we put ourself last.
Since we take care of everyone around us, we don’t really get that time to just sit, listen and be. To truly think about what we want without feeling guilty for doing so.
We’ve spent a lifetime making excuses for not taking care of ourselves.
We define ourselves by the role we play as mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends. We’re so committed to the well-being of those we love, we don’t think twice about putting our needs second.
But when you think about it, isn’t it a good thing for us to indulge in self care? Isn’t it a good thing to take time out to pause — and tune back into what we truly desire?
For me, the answer is a resounding YES!
My name is Heather, and I work with women just like you…
Self care is a philosophy I’ve lived by ever since I was diagnosed with burnout and adrenal fatigue back in October 2014.
Though I didn’t realise it at the time, that diagnosis ended up being the greatest gift. It forced me to stop. To get back in touch with me. To look after my health. To examine and reevaluate what I needed and what I didn’t.
Along the way, I rediscovered my love for walking.
Walking had been an integral part of my life since I trekked the Great Wall of China in 1999. And it became a huge part of my recovery as I worked on my overall health and well-being.
Through walking I tuned back into who I was and what I truly wanted — and became the best version of myself.
Today, I encourage women like you to carve out time for themselves through walking. Whenever I take someone walking for the first time, it opens them up to a whole new world.
The good news is that you can start anywhere, anytime.
Walking is a gentle exercise that’s available to us all — no matter where we are or what stage of life we’re in.
Alone, it’s a great time for mindful reflection. With others, it’s an opportunity to connect while gaining insight and inspiration.
Through walking and coaching, my mission is to give women like you the time and space you crave. To remind you that our physical, mental and emotional health are all connected. To show you that self-care is easy and necessary to incorporate into your life.
It’s nothing short of magic when you go from running thoughts to walking feet.
Your mind calms down. Your body is invigorated. You’re out in nature and in good company. That’s because when you give yourself permission to go out for a walk, what you are really doing is giving yourself permission to reconnect with yourself.
Whether you join me on the Camino de Santiago or for a round of Women on Foot, I invite you to experience this magic for yourself.
Most importantly, I encourage you to take this magic back and incorporate it into your daily life. Your body and your soul will thank you for it.
What other women are saying
“
An energising and uplifting walk in the forest. I went home relaxed, stress free and enthusiastic about life in general and I’m really looking forward to more of these walks.

I feel very calm and grounded just after a couple of hours walking, with the luxury of time and space to think. Thank you Heather for making it possible and please book me in for more!

I ignored my very long to-do-list to take up Heather’s invitation. It was perfect as far as I was concerned. I enjoyed being out doors in the fresh air, not only engaging in nature but also engaging with myself. Some of the exercises helped me to reconnect with the ‘present’, and one in particular helped me let go of some ‘baggage’ of the past.
